How are Cashmere Hair Extensions different?

Hair extensions are not just for adding length. You can achieve volume, texture, chemical free color, highlights and color accents all without the use of harsh chemicals. No longer do you have to wait months or even years to have the look and lifestyle you desire.  Cashmere Hair Extensions will give you instant gratification!

webFINAL diagram hair SUPERIOR

Owning a set of Cashmere Hair Extensions, not only saves you THOUSANDS of dollars, but is the easiest and most convenient hair extension system.  Salon applied hair extensions are extremely damaging and over priced. Cashmere Hair Extensions are a one time payment, with the convenience of at home custom application. Cashmere Hair provides the perfect alternative to permanent hair extensions and look even better! This is the ultimate DIY system for even the most inexperienced user, that only takes minutes to put in and seconds to remove. With Cashmere Hair you can have salon quality hair with out spending the time or money.

What is the quality of the hair?

Cashmere Hair is 100% High Quality Cuticle Human Hair. The hair cuticle is facing in the same direction which prevents tangling and matting. This High Quality Hair allows for better blending with your own hair and gives the appearance of natural, healthy looking hair.

What really makes our hair extensions the BEST is our gentle dying process, which takes up to 9 – 12 days.  Other 2 day processes, which rapidly dye hair using heavy acid and chemicals, cause damage to the hair. This heavy chemical processing causes hair to loose vital moisture and nutrition. Instead, our process of dying is a very slow process which is the least damaging to hair and gives you the healthiest quality hair, allowing your hair extension to look their best longest. We take the quality of our product very seriously, which is why we set ourselves apart from other companies on a completely different level of quality & authenticity. We have our strands laboratory tested and certified to be 100% Cuticle human hair, the highest quality available.

Other companies mask the harsh chemical process by using silicone to disguise the bad quality of the hair to make it feel silky when you first purchase it. After a few shampoos you might notice that the coating come off, and true nature of the quality is revealed.

Will Cashmere Hair Extensions damage my hair and how long my extensions last?

No damage will occur, and unlike traditional salon extensions. Cashmere Hair Extensions should last you anywhere between 6 to 12 months, with proper care and maintenance. Clip-in Hair Extensions can be reapplied and styled daily. If using a curling iron or flat iron, we recommend first styling your own hair, and then styling the clip-ins similarly before clipping in. Although, we always recommend using the least possible heat styling while getting the most uses out of the hair before rewashing. It is not necessary to wash your extensions after every use. Keep in mind, just like our own hair, any type of heat wears on the hair in time. These tips will save your own hair & extensions from extra unnecessary heat styling damage. Tip: Always try and treat your hair extensions with lots of love!

Can I dye Cashmere Hair Extensions?

Cashmere Hair Extensions are made of real hair just like your natural hair. It is always recommended to see one of our trained professional hair stylist or a professional you trust to assist you with any changes that you would like made to your hair extensions.  Please choose the hair extension color that is closest to your natural hair color, we do not recommend dying the hair extensions, since many of them have already been specially dyed. Our goal is to supply you with the best quality hair extensions possible, and we have a very special dying process that keeps the hair in the healthiest condition. Further dying could damage the hair if not done by our professionals.

Will Cashmere Hair Extensions be visible, will people be able to tell I’m wearing them?

No, Cashmere Clip-in Hair Extensions should not be visible. The beauty of Cashmere Hair Clip-extensions is that they make achieving the look of gorgeous hair naturally. Once fitted they are a perfect blend with your own hair. They provide unlimited versatility with a natural look and feel. Our clip-in system is suggested to be worn low on your head making it easy to disguise and blend with your own hair. Part of the secret of wearing hair extensions is blending your hair extensions into your natural hair for the most discrete & natural look.

Will Cashmere Hair Extensions stay in my hair, without slipping out?

These hair extensions make having the look of gorgeous hair easy, fast and comfortable. With in minutes you will have the gorgeous hair you’ve always wanted. Specially designed small silicone pressure clips allow these hair extensions to be put in and taken off in just minutes and without the worry of sliding or snapping open. Our hair extensions are undetectable and natural looking when inserted properly. No teasing is necessary prior to clipping into hair for most hair types.

Will Cashmere Hair Extensions work with very thin hair?

If you have very thin hair, Cashmere Hair will definitely be the perfect match for your desirable look. Depending on the severity of the thinning of your hair, you will need enough hair to lie over the top weft to cover it. Backcombing the hair above the top weft can help disguise easier. Ideally you would want your hair to be at least 6 inches long for best results.

What is the length of Cashmere Hair Extensions?

Cashmere Hair Extensions are 18″-20″ long (47cm-49cm). When worn in the recommended application they automatically layer themselves giving you a more natural look.

What color do I choose?

When choosing a color to match your own hair, choose a color that matches your hair from the middle to the ends. Never choose the hair color of your “roots” as that is always darker. The color match blend for your hair will be from your middle length to ends. So choosing a color closest this area of your hair will give you the best results. If your unique hair color is not available in our color chart, the best options is to place a custom order with Cashmere.

How To Keep Your Makeup Fresh All Day

9 Sep

There is no secret to keeping your makeup as fresh as when you first applied it.

The truth is, if you want your makeup to look good all day, you either need to periodically check your face and do touch ups, or you need to start fresh and reapply. There are certainly things that you can do to help it last longer on your face, but your skin is a living breathing thing, that moves, gets touched, gets sweaty, gets oily, and so on. Even simple things like using your phone and eating are guaranteeing you a touch-up. Try to avoid touching your face as much as possible throughout the day, it keeps it cleaner and prevents your makeup from getting messed up for longer.

So many magazines, articles and ads try to tell you otherwise, and list off simple tips to staying flawless all day. But I find that it’s mostly irrelevant tips, or bs.  I’m sharing with you the reality of makeup, which is that makeup is temporary. There is NO way to make it “stay.” The only solution is touch-ups/reapplying.

“How do you keep your makeup looking so flawless and last throughout the day?” So many girls ask me this question, and I figured I would share my secret for a flawless face . . . TOUCH-UPS!

Now, that I have shared this information with you, don’t freak out! It’s really very easy to do touch ups and reapply. It may seem like a hassle, but it’s just a necessary part of you making the choice to wear makeup. Even “long-wearing formulas” are still temporary.

If you wear a full face of makeup, the parts that you will most likely need to touch up most frequently are, your lips, and your foundation. Keeping a powder compact with a mirror and a lip color with you at all times, is not to difficult and can be kept in your purse.

Another way that I keep my makeup looking fresh, for example after a long day if I want to look fresh for a dinner date, I use a makeup wipe to clean off all of my foundation/powder on my face, leaving my eye makeup on. It is easy to just reapply lotion, foundation, concealer and setting powder and blush in only a few minutes to give my face a fresh look. Eye makeup tends to last longer on me, so I don’t have to touch up on it.

I like to use Comodynes Convenient Cosmetics Make-up Remover Sensitive & Dry Skin wipes from Trader Joe’s. They remove makeup well, and stay really moist.

I recommend keeping a few items with you in your purse or a tiny makeup bag. Whatever you think wears off the quickest, and will help you to look fresh is what you should put in it.

Here are some basic suggestions:

To-Go touch-up kit:

Pressed powder compact with a mirror in a translucent shade, or matching your skintone.

Small travel sized powder brush

Eyeliner (I recommend using a waterproof version so it doesn’t bleed or wear off, but if you love eyeliner, it’s a good idea to keep an extra pencil with you to touch-up with)

Blotting tissues (to remove oil and shine if you have oily skin)

Lip color (something that is easy to apply and natural looking for everyday) (Or that fun color you applied before leaving the house, throw that in your kit/purse)

Small container of concealer, or spare concealer (just in case those dark circles or zits start showing through your previously applied concealer)

I always keep some sort of mineral powder compact for touch ups because it gives great coverage to cover blemishes, to blend streaks, and blends well with the foundation I already have on. I use “Sandy Lane” by FRESH or Almost Poweder Makeup by Clinique in “04 Neutral”

Even during photoshoots, makeup artists are constantly doing touch ups to keep makeup and hair looking fresh, and they usually stay on set all day “just in case.” Unfortunately, we can’t all have our own personal makeup artist with us all day, so be your own personal makeup artist, touch up when you make a trip to the rest room, or whenever you have a minute and a mirror.

How & Where To Store Perfume

7 Aug

I had no idea until I came across an article in a recent issue of on of my favorite beauty magazines, that there was a right or wrong way to store your perfume. Of course I assumed that you should keep it out of direct sunlight, and heat. I never leave it in a hot car or place it by a window. I store my perfume on a shelf in the bathroom, a place that made perfect sense to me. But, come to find out, that this is NOT the place to store your perfume. Perfume can last anywhere from one to eight years, so wouldn’t you like it to last as long as possible?

Especially, if you have a nice collection of different fragrances like I do, I like to keep the bottles for years. Fortunately, my perfume’s are still ok, and it’s a good thing that I learned this and have moved them since. The reason I moved them from my bathroom is that the hot heat from my ceiling heater (I use it to heat up the bathroom in the winter) and from the shower, plus the humidity can actually change the fragrance for the worst. The ceiling heater:

I love this thing in the winter-warms up the bathroom so quickly-but not so good for my perfumes!

Storing your perfume in a dark cool place is best. The magazine even suggested that you can store them in the refrigerator, but that is so inconvenient and weird to me. (It suggested it can double the life of your perfume, & to keep it away from foods.)

I have a few other suggestions for you that would work and are way more practical. Try storing your perfumes on a pretty tray on a dresser in your bedroom (away from the window and direct sunlight & lamps). Or if you have a walk in closet or any extra shoulder height shelves in your closet, display and store your perfume bottles there. It makes it easy for you to remember to give yourself a spritz while getting dressed. I also spray my lingerie drawer with some perfume from time to time. Makes my closet & nighties smell nice, plus I will smell good getting into bed. ;)

BEFORE:

So I stored some of my perfumes, along with some body-sprays here, in this bin on the bathroom shelf:

I also stored some other ones on a tray above these:

AFTER:

After learning this information, I removed my perfumes, and left behind the body sprays, since they are cheaper and I don’t care about them as much. I put the bodyspays on the top shelf:

Then I moved all of my perfumes into my walk in closet, and placed them on a tray on top of the dresser:

I suggest you take another look at where you store your fragrances? Are they safe from heat, sun/direct light, and humidity?

Sunset Blonde’s Sheer Leopard Scarf

5 Aug

I keep getting questions from you lovelies about where I bought my Silk Leopard Print Scarf  that I wore in the “Button Up Love” post. Since you can’t get the same one I have, I figured that I would do some research and find other ones that you can buy to get the same look! It’s a nice piece to add to your wardrobe. Leopard print is always super sexy. Since it’s sheer, it’s seasonless- you can wear in the summer as a sarong, or as an accessory to a LBD or tank top, or any other time of the year to accessorize an outfit.

Adrina Schwab:

“I absolutely love the tan leather jacket and the scarf! Where can I get one? Btw you have an AMAZING fashion sense! Thanks! (:”

Katie:

“I’m obsessed with white/ivory silk shirts and i can’t find any that i really like for a decent price, i’ve looked at banana republic recently and they didn’t have anything- any other suggestions? i also love your sheer leopard scarf! where did you get it?!”

Thanks Adrina & Katie! Hope this post helps!

Buy it in the Coffee/Brown Color

—-> I’ve never shopped at this website before, but this one looks similar to the one I have. It comes in a few different colors, I would get it in the brown color, which I think looks the best. It’s also the cheapest one that I could find for you.

Neiman Marcus: Alexander McQueen

—-> There’s no doubt, Alexandar McQueen scarves are recognizable and gorgeous. This one is the most expensive that I found.  I love the little skulls incorporated in with the leopard print!

THE JACKET:

I got the jacket at Express. I was looking for a nice tan leather jacket, and I found this one, which is faux leather, but looks real. Great quality and comes in a bunch of colors. I got it in Color: BUTTERSCOTCH. I love that the sleeves unzip and the gold zippers. I bought mine in an xsmall.

Sunset Blonde’s Staying in Shape Tips

3 Aug

(above bikinis are by Have Faith Swimgerie)

Staying in shape for me has been relatively easy throughout my life. I know I’m very lucky that I don’t need to diet & that I am naturally fit. I used to be really skinny when I was younger, I was even made fun of and I got asked if I was anorexic a lot. I hated that everyone always asked me if I eat. Of course I eat!

As I got older, I grew to understand that because I was skinny & sort of pretty that I could have a shot in the modeling industry. After I graduated with a B.A. from college, I decided that I wanted to take a serious attempt at modeling. And that’s where I began.

I feel very fortunate to have the body and high metabolism that I do. Because when I want to splurge for fast food or dessert, it won’t effect the way my body looks. Although, I do care very much about my health and eating healthy. So on a regular basis, I eat healthy and a well balanced diet. I believe that it not only helps me feel good, but adds to my overall health, I want to live a long healthy life, so I make good choices. I like to look in shape, not too skinny or too thick, so there are several things that I do to stay in shape and stay fit. I am by no means a professional in fitness or health, I just wanted to share with you what I do.

(above photo: are the high-waisted bikini bottoms by Have Faith Swimgerie)

My main secrets for staying in shape are these 4 things:

1. Eat smaller portions

I can eat a lot, as I’m sure most of you can. But we all shouldn’t! I eat out a lot being on the road for work & for date nights, and restaurants always, always, always serve extra large portions. They give you so much food, and we are conditioned to feel guilty for not cleaning our plates. It is way to easy, and totally acceptable to over eat. We are so used to over eating that if we don’t over eat we don’t feel full. A normal portion size of food looks like a miniscule amount of food that won’t come close to filling you up, as compared to what we are conditioned to eat. You need to condition yourself to eat smaller portions. This will take time, but it can be done. When you are used to eating a smaller portion, it will fill you up, you will get the nutrition that you need, and you will feel satisfied instead of “stuffed.”

Honestly, I barely finish half a plate of food from a restaurant. I usually split a dish with my fiance, and I eat a smaller portion of it than he does, since he weighs more than I do.

Eating a smaller portion of food, makes it ok to also eat more frequently if you feel the need to.

Eating a smaller portion keeps my stomach from feeling bloated, and allows me to easily tighten my stomach muscles without feeling uncomfortable while I’m modeling.

2. Eat Healthy, Real Foods

Most people have no idea what is good for them to eat and what is bad. I always stick to natural foods as much as possible. I also really like natural foods that you don’t need to cook. Don’t get me wrong, I love to cook, but fruits and salads are always a healthy choice and don’t need cooking, which makes them really easy to whip up quickly and eat. I do always cut up my fruits and vegetables into smaller more enjoyable eats. Fruit salads and vegetable salads are so healthy and yet so simple.

I also love meat. I try to only cook it with olive oil or coconut oil and garlic or spices.

Quinoa is my favorite grain, the highest in protein and adds to all kinds of dishes. I make a really amazing salad with plain cooked and chopped chicken, strawberries, blueberries, avocado, raspberries, spinach, and quinoa. Just adding a minimal amount of Italian dressing from Trader Joe’s.

I love Trader Joe’s. I am lucky to have one located right across from where I live, which makes it my main grocery store and so convenient. I love it because it is smaller than a regular grocery store and they have less options, but healthier choices. I tend to buy eggs, fruits, vegetables, nuts/dried fruit, healthy dairy, and meats only. No junk food, no crap.

3. Be Routine

Routine may seem boring to you, but routine is important. This is something I learned from my fiance that has also aided both of us in healthy eating. When I first met him, I noticed and thought it was weird that he always ate different versions of the same things. He ate mostly chicken, egg whites, vegetables and fruits, and oatmeal. He was in AMAZING shape, muscles, a perfect six pack, and he’s in his late 30′s. He always made the same selections, oatmeal or egg whites, a chicken breast and fruit for breakfast. Chicken and vegetables for lunch and dinner, and sometimes an occasional steak, fish or sushi. He rarely ever ate carbohydrates or dairy, he didn’t completely avoid it, but it was never his first choice. I try to do the same thing now, it makes so much sense!

(A example of a snack: Carrot Juice and blueberries.)

Not only did he always make the same choices when ordering food, he also made the same selections at the grocery store when we would go grocery shopping together. Instead of buying just one of the item, he would put 3 or 4 of the same item into the cart. I thought it was weird, because for me, I always shopped for variety, I always shopped for new items, or things that I could experiment to cook with. I’ve learned that buying one container of raspberries for example, gets eaten after a day or 2, and then you don’t have anymore. So buying 3 cartons of raspberries allows you to eat a little everyday, and lasts for a week. It is also easy to know what to eat when you don’t have too many choices. I love keeping fresh berries & bananas, easy to make a yummy fruit salad with for a snack or to accompany a meal. Fresh vegetables that come cut up or that you cut up immediately getting home from the store, helps you to have snacks and quick veggies to grab to dip in hummus or dressing.

Here is a photo of a few things in our shopping cart, obviously we haven’t finished with our grocery shopping, but I wanted to show you a photo of the consistency/routine, and some of the things that we buy. We also added spinach, baby greens, chicken, quinoa, avocados, a mixed bag of veggies, kale, peanut butter, hummus, coconut water, carrot juice, vanilla soy milk, green tea, bananas, mangos, and a few other things. . .

I love to make Kale chips, my fiance HATES them. But I love them as a freshly prepared snack.

Things we drink: water, sparkling water, fruit water, hot green tea, iced tea, coffee, carrot juice, grapefruit juice, orange juice and coconut water. We stay away from artificial sports drinks and sodas.

Do your research and start by making a list of the healthy foods that you would like to keep you your home. Don’t keep the junk foods, or desserts in your home. Only splurge on them once is a while for a special occasion when out. And try to make your healthy food choices starting at the grocery store, and be routine about your choices. I like to start in the produce section and get a good amount of food there. Fruits, veggies, proteins, oatmeal, whole grains, and low fat dairy or soy as your main purchases.

4. Workout

I don’t just make healthy food choices, I also work out. My fiance works out 2 times a day, because he is an early riser. He does his cardio in the morning before he goes to work, and weight lifting in the evening. I join him in the evenings 2-3 times a week. He goes almost every day. I do his weight lifting routines with him, modifying some exercises because I can’t lift as much weight as him.

I recommend group fitness, taking classes at your local gym, or working out with a friend. It can be hard to get motivated, that’s why being routine with working out is important as well. By signing up for a class, committing to working out with a friend, or doing it the same time every day/other day, will help you stay fit. I’m lucky, and have my fiance to push me to go to the gym, especially when I’m feeling tired or unmotivated.

You should also choose a gym that is conveniently located to your work or home. I workout right at the gym across the street from where I live, so I can walk to it. You can also spend your money on a personal trainer to teach you a workout to suit your body and needs. It’s better to spend your money on a healthy fit body, than a new pair of shoes or an expensive new purse, isn’t it?

I hope these things help. They are not anything new, or innovative, but sometimes when you just make some smart choices and small changes in your life it can make a huge difference?

Here is a little extra motivation/suggestions that I came across and wanted to share with you:

(Notice here at the bottom of this picture it gives you a simple way to measure a serving? 1 palm for meat, 2 palms for vegetables. )

VIVA GLAM MAGAZINE PARTY-Red Carpet Look

30 Jul

20120730-150556.jpg

Last night I went out to support VIVA GLAM MAGAZINE!

As one of the Beauty Editors of the Magazine, I walked the Red Carpet at the Event, which took place in the courtyard of the W Hotel on Hollywood Boulevard.

It was a great party with so many of my beautiful co-workers and friends. Katarina Van Derham- the Founder of Viva Glam Magazine, Jessica Hall, Jessie Golden, Angela Taylor, Irina Veronina, Marketa Janska, Leilani Dowding, and Joanna Krupa just to name a few!

Here are a few of my Red Carpet photos.

I wanted to keep my look glamorous, but still natural, so I did a slightly different version of my Signature Eye Makeup Technique, wearing only mascara on my bottom lashes, and blending a dark brown eyeshadow into the crease concentrating most of the shadow on the outer corners. I’m also wearing liquid eyeliner only in the outer corners of my upper lashes. I have on a 5 knot free Medium length individual flare lashes on each eyelid that I blended with mascara into my own lashes. I used Loreal Voluminous Mascara in Carbon Black. I am wearing Makeup Forever HD Foundation in #123, with a light dusting of Bare Minerals Powder Foundation in Golden Medium over it. I used Hoola bronzer under my cheekbones for definition and blended upward, followed by Bobbie Brown Bronzer in Golden Light (which is sort of a reddish bronzer) on my cheeks as a blush for extra color without looking like I’m wearing blush. On my lips I have a light layer of lipgloss by Nars called Chelsea Girls.

I wanted a very soft “Farrah” style goddess like hair style, and it was oddly humid for LA that night, so I figured my hair would soften and curl anyway. I used a 1 inch curling iron by Hot Tools, and curled pieces away from my face. I just blow dryed my bangs forward with a large round brush and parted them down the middle. As you can see, I am growing out my natural hair color, which is the top portion of my hair (from my eyes up). It is blended into the lighter portion of my hair with subtle highlights.

I wore a blue sequin dress by WowCouture that I got from Flirtnation.com (one of my modeling jobs.)

Louis Vuitton Robertson Clutch

Shoes by Qupid. I love these shoes and have them in 6 colors! They are actually really comfortable, and excellent quality. Instead of buying the $650 Giuseppe’s, since I won’t wear these colored pumps very often, I opted to get a bunch of colors for a STEAL at the link below. I actually think these are a cuter shape than the actual Giuseppe pumps:

GoJane Suede Peep-toe Platform Pumpscj
($25.60, GoJane)

(they might not sell them anymore, I bought mine several months ago.)

Giuseppe Zanotti Suede Platform Pumpsls
($650, Saks)

My Signature Scent

4 Jul

HOT COUTURE by GIVENCHY

I’ve been wearing this fragrance for over 10 years now. I have other perfumes but nothing says me more than this scent. My man just loves this ones as well, it’s his favorite on me too. It has the most amazing sweet raspberry notes, with jasmine, bergamot, and white musk. This scent smells flirty and girly, yet sophisticated and elegant.  So feminine and girlie, but not too sweet.

You can buy it at Sephora and Ulta.

Button Up Love

Button Up LOVE!

Lately my go-to wardrobe staple has been a variety of button ups. Denim, silk, plaid, are just a few of my new favorites. I got them at fairly affordable prices, and since I get so much wear out of them it’s worth it to invest in a few different styles and colors. Always classy, always classic.

CHAMBRAY/DENIM BUTTON UP

My favorite ones right now are my denim/Chambray shirts from American Eagle. I have them in 2 colors, but I tend to wear the lighter one more often since it’s more summery. I sort of treat them like an alternative to a jean jacket when it’s too warm to wear a jean jacket. They also go really well with the colored denim trend that is really popular. They also work great with leggings and boots, or even over a bikini!

You can find these shirts in a lot of stores right now since they are very trendy for summer. But here is the link to the one’s I have from American Eagle, and also one from BR:

PLAID BUTTON UP

The plaid top that I have is a really versatile casual piece. I love to wear it with denim cut offs or leggings. It’s a great basic that can be worn with so many different bottoms, and since it’s such a neutral color scheme, I can pair it with so many colors and items in my wardrobe. Here I wore it on a sunny day with shorts and wedges.

I bought mine from Express and it came in a few different colors (tan, pink, blue) I think they are sold out of it though, but look for something similar, I saw some at American Apparel, Hurley, and Guess as well.

I love the color of this minty green one from Hurley for only $18!

SILK BUTTON UP

I can’t get enough of the silk button ups that are everywhere right now, in all different price ranges! I have 2 from Banana Republic one in ivory and one in coral that I wear the most. These are great fitting and decently priced. I wear these ones for  special occasions, out to dinner with friends, date night, etc. The one down side to these is that you have to dry clean them and they can get dirty fast. That’s why I only wear them when I want a dressier look. Although these are also really great to wear with a pair of jeans or cut offs for summer since they are so light and flowy. They go great with shorts, skirts, jeans, leggings, and are even perfect to wear to work! Here are a couple looks:

I paired it with a sheer leopard scarf, tan leather jacket, wedges and khaki shorts for a summer evening look to dinner and a movie at the Grove.

A silk button up is always classy, always classic and a staple for your wardrobe. You can even wear it with a (high waist) mini skirt for a sexier look, but still keeps it classy and covered on top.

EMBELLISHED/BLACK BUTTON UP

Have a few different styles in Black for a dressier night time look. I have one with skulls, one with the “cold shoulder” look where the shoulders are cut out, and one with embellishments. These are an alternatives to the classic button up with details that enhance the look and dress it up a bit.

Here is the skull top I have that I paired with J Brand Jeans and rhinestone heels from Alba. The skull top is from Shopdivine.com which you can get a %5 extra off discount by typing in “sunsetblonde” code at checkout!

Here is a similar one to the cold shoulder one that I have, except this one isn’t a button up, but it has that same type of feel to it that you can buy from Shopdivine.com   Lovers + Friends Black Daydream Blouse

FUN COLORS:

It’s great to get them in fun colors since bright colors are really in for summer.  As I mentioned above (but not pictured) I have a silk button up from Banana Republic in a coral color. Also, not a complete button up, but it’s a nice alternative, this Magenta one from Haute Hippie:

Whatever your lifestyle is, consider adding one or more of these great button ups to your wardrobe!

Vanna K

A few months ago I did an Ad Campaign for Vanna K Jewelry. Here are a few on the images from the campaign. I did my own hair and makeup for this shoot, and kept it very natural and elegant. I loved trying on all the fabulous jewels and sparkly diamonds! OMG!

This is a Behind the Scenes shot from the photo shoot at the SLS Hotel in Los Angeles.

Photos by Kenny Sweeny.

From the Vanna K Blog:

“Vanna K is the home of today’s most unique collection of micro-pave diamond engagement rings. Representing style, elegance and high-quality, their attention to detail on their one-of-a-kind designs make each piece a wearable work of art.

Inspired by femininity and art deco design, Vanna K’s exclusive designs are classic and truly represent timeless elegance. Vanna K is all about fulfilling a woman’s desire to feel beautiful, ethereal and loved. The finished designs combine the feeling of royalty, using large high-quality sparkling diamonds and the feeling of truly individual style, using the many intricate details of each design.

Here you see just one example of their vintage-inspired hand-crafted engagement rings. This ring, from their Solea Collection, features a gorgeous 6 carat emerald-cut center diamond. While that diamond could stand alone as a regal piece, a Vanna K design doesn’t stop there. The center is beautifully complemented with an additional 1.75 carats of round diamonds encircling it, and further topped off by .10 carat baguettes on each side. The finished look is brilliantly clean and resplendent, while offering additional details that make it unlike any other ring. This is true beauty at its finest. This is Vanna K.

Crown your love a queen today by giving her something as unique as her and as big as your love… give her a Vanna K.”

From the Vanna K Blog:

“Vanna K is proud to be the home of today’s most unique collection of diamond engagement rings. But they are also known for their amazing collection of fashionable fine jewelry.

Just as with their engagement rings, their fashion jewelry is unique in every single way. The beautiful gemstones they use are high-quality, and are often rare and extraordinary. Combine this with exclusive designs you’ll see nowhere else, you find the only jewelry you’ll ever want to wear.

The exquisite set of jewelry featured here is both timeless and breathtaking. The ring is a stunning, rare oval tourmaline with pear-shaped diamonds encompassing it. Complementing it is the majestic, Victorian-inspired necklace, also featuring a rare oval tourmaline, with the design laced in micro-pave diamonds. This set is so dazzling, it will make whatever you wear look simply stunning.

Day 4: Hawaii Polo Match + Trish McEvoy Makeup

14 Jun

On our day off here in Hawaii we got invited to a Polo Match! This was very exciting for me, since I’ve never seen a polo match, other than in the movie Pretty Woman.

Me watching the polo match

I am going to share with you some of the fun details of this event, where it was, what I wore, etc.  But what I really want to share with you is the free makeup that I received in the gift bags! Because you know me, I love beauty!

Makeup by Trish McEvoy!

A little bit about the polo match:

The Invitation to the Polo Match

The polo field is gorgeous and located right on the beach of Oahu’s beautiful North Shore. To see more, visit their website at http://hawaii-polo.org/

This is what the polo match looked like.

Apparently every polo Sunday you can watch the best players and ponies in the state and from around the world play the ‘sport of kings.’ The gates open at noon on Sundays and games start around 2 pm.

It all started with the pony parade and then moved on to the polo game with exciting half-time activities including skydive stunts and a fashion show! It was sponsored by Mercedes and Porche, so they had the brand new cars drive out onto the field in the opener with the horses!

For all the VIP attendee’s the dress code was ALL WHITE!

We arrived early, so the tables are still empty, but as you can see, every thing is white themed in the VIP area!

How fun? I love white parties, and never wear white because it always gets dirty so fast, so I think for special occasions that it’s great! I wore a big floppy hat that my wonderful friend Katerina Van Derham gave me for my birthday, and attached a white flower to it.

For my outfit, I wanted to wear something sophisticated yet girlie and cute . . .

So I wore a white silk blouse from Banana Republic paired with a blush colored tulle skirt from H&M. I figured since the pink was so light, that it would still look kind of white, and yet, frilly and girlie.

I wore tan wedges from Aldo that are comfortable and wedges are easier to walk around on the grass in. I bought these wedges last year, and they still sell them here: online.  I love them because they are super comfortable & go with so many outfits for summer!

ALDO T-strap sandal in Cognac $70.00

For my accessories I wore my right hand rings for sparkle,  along with cheapy pearl & gold bead bracelets that I got from Forever21 on my left wrist, a Chanel gold and pearl necklace & Chanel mother of pearl CC earrings to class it up! ;)

I bought this vintage white leather waist belt years ago, but never quite found the perfect outfit to pair it with. Luckily, I never got rid of it because finally I had the perfect outfit for it! It cinched the blouse around my waist nicely and pulled the outfit together.

I wanted a small purse because I knew that I would be carrying it around all day, so I brought my small Gucci purse. I loved that my purse had pink leather around the zipper and straps to match with the pink skirt with gold details to match my jewelry!

Me and some of the girls before arriving at the match:

And now, THE MAKEUP!
Upon leaving the event, VIP guest were given a gift bag. To my favor, it was MAKEUP! I got super excited and pulled it all out to see what it was right away! I got a Lipstick Crayon, Eyeliner, and Lip balm from Trish McEvoy.
When I got back to my room, I looked up Trish McEvoy because I had heard the name before, but wasn’t familiar with any of the brand’s products. I looked up the products that I had been given and here’s what I found.
_____________________________________________________________________________________
Essential Pencil-Baby Pink
I tried this pencil right away on my lips. I got it in BABY PINK color, but it was more of a shimmery medium pink. Nice, but not as natural as I had hoped for. But I would love to try some of the other colors, they look really nice, and this lip pencil went on smooth and moisturizing. I love that they suggest that this can also be used on cheeks as a cream blush, because I think this shade would be perfect for that use. I would just use this as a lipstick, but if you have to use it as a liner, at least it’s big enough to deter you from making the obvious lip liner mistake.
_____________________________________________________________________________________
Beauty Booster Lip Balm SPF 15
I love that this lip balm has Spf 15 in it, I love products that aid in anti aging! Since I’m in Hawaii where it’s gorgeous outside, I’ve been needing a spf for my lips, so this one is perfect. It smelled and felt a lot like Carmex brand lip balms, but I like this tube container better. It is easier and more girly to apply this way. A great free gift!
____________________________________________________________________________________
On the Trish McEvoy website I found a video on how to apply this GEL eyeliner, she explained that it is good to use right in the lash line by lifting the upper eyelid up and making small dots and connecting them. The eyeliner that I received did not have the little smudger tip on the opposite end of the pencil like the full size does, I think mine was more of a sample size. But I tried using it in a similar manor and it applied really well. The pencil is smooth and richly pigmented. I applied it before flying home to Los Angeles, and it was still on and in place when I landed. This was my favorite makeup item that I received in the gift bag.

Self Esteem & Beauty Routine

13 Jun

“I love the confidence that makeup gives me.”-Tyra Banks

”Makeup is a way for a woman to look and feel like herself, only prettier and more confident.” – Bobbi Brown

Beauty Routine for Confidence:
My fiance is always wondering why I insist on needing 2 hours to get ready. He typically just wants me to continue cuddling with him, but I need to hop up and start doing my thing.

I know how ridiculous it sounds for it to take 2 hours to get ready to go somewhere. And, of course, I have my extremely shortened versions when I need to go somewhere fast, I can get out the door in no time!

But for me, my beauty routine is a time for me to be creative and relax, it is my everyday therapy & meditation time.  I need enough time, so I don’t feel rushed, so that I can take the time to feel beautiful.

According to an Allure Magazine survey, “97 % of women say they feel more confident when they use their favorite beauty products.” I’m not encouraging you to go out and constantly spend money on beauty products, I’m simply sharing with you what helps me feel good. What helps me feel good, is taking the time to care for myself and beautifying myself.

Recently, one of my beautiful girl friends has been going through a really rough time with her self-esteem and confidence. Looking at her you would wonder why, because she is gorgeous, super talented, and has a really sweet heart. I think everyone struggles with this at some point in their lives. Feeling bad about yourself, feeling like you aren’t good enough, pretty enough, comparing themselves to others. PLEASE DON’T do that to yourself. Even I have insecurities and days where I don’t feel pretty, but I don’t let it eat at me. It can destroy you. You are who you are, and you need to accept that. Luckily, there are things that you can do to help.

Here is what I do on those days, and I do a little bit of this everyday for myself. . . I find that it helps in some way to spend some time on myself. It’s sort of an anti-insecurity day, by shopping for new makeup, hair products, by simply applying my makeup in a new way, doing my nails, spa treatments, a new hair cut, etc. Taking the time to do these things for yourself can boost your confidence. They really do help a little bit with feeling good about yourself. Obviously, it won’t solve all of your problems, those are within and mentally you need to work on it, but I think that when you do something of this nature, it can put you in a better mental state and in the right direction.

So, back to what I was telling you about my friend, she called me up right before I was leaving town for Hawaii and asked me if when I’m back from my trip, if I could go with her to help her pick out some new makeup and help her update her beauty routine. She said that she thought it might help with the way she feels. Of course, I got excited and told her yes! I love to help my friends and I love makeup! It really got me thinking about what I do to have good self esteem, and I realized that the majority of it is spending the time to look good, which helps me to feel good.  I think that she is being so smart about trying to help herself feel better.

As a kid, my parents would set me up at the crafts table to do an art project. I would be sitting there quiet for hours coloring in shrinky dinks, molding animals out of fimo clay, or tracing Fashion Plates. I have graduated this need for creativity and focused it on myself. Every time I put on makeup I try different colors, techniques and styles. It is my grown up version of this kind of creativity. Not only does it allow me to be creative, but I feel good about focusing on myself, and giving myself some pampering. It is soothing, and makes me feel good about myself. That’s also why I became a Makeup Artist, I love to beautify other women as well. There is something so rewarding about seeing someone else so happy with the way they look. I get so much satisfaction from sharing what I know and love with other women. This is also why I started this blog. ;)

Between satisfying my creative nature and my boosting my self confidence, I end up frequently testing out new makeup and skincare products, figuring out new techniques and ways of achieving beautiful results.  I am mainly self taught when it comes to beauty, trial and error is what I like to do, and I like to share my successes on this blog with you. I encourage you to try the same thing if you so please.

Maybe this sounds stupid to some of you, maybe you don’t need makeup to feel beautiful, or maybe some of you don’t care about being beautiful, and I think that is so great. I’m happy for you. But this is for the women out there in the world that want a little bit of help. This is how I handle it, this is what I do, this is what makes me feel good. So, maybe it will help you too?

Take a little extra time on yourself out of your busy life, organize your makeup collection, shop for new makeup brushes at my online store, or test out one of my How-to’s to start. For those of you that already take your time getting ready, be proud that you find enjoyment in this, recognize this as a good thing, a meditation. Men may never understand why it takes us so long to get ready, and you don’t have to rationalize it. Some “me” time is always good, life is too short, so use your time wisely and be happy.

Make Your Own NUDE Nail Polish

4 Jun

I love Bare Minerals, you can read about it in previous posts, so when I came across this amazingly creative idea in a magazine, I HAD to try it!! It worked great, and so I wanted to share it with you!

_____________________________________________________________________

You can make your own custom nude nail polish color by mixing your Mineral Foundation with an ivory or cream shade of nail polish. I tried it out on an old bottle of nail polish that I got at Ulta, it was kind of an ivory color that I used to use for French Manicures.

Here’s what you need:

1. Bare Mineral Powder Foundation

2. Ivory or cream colored nail polish

3. A spatula

I scooped about 4 spatulas of the Bare Minerals Foundation into the nail polish, and then screwed the cap back on. (see below=1 scoop on the spatula)

Shake it up until fully mixed. You can start to see the nail polish color change colors to a nude shade.

My nails naturally have a bluish purple color to them as you can see in the photo below. It is especially blue when I am cold, which I think looks really weird. So I love the idea of a nude color that matches my skin tone! Pictured below, left is my nail with only clear polish on, and the right 2 nails are painted with one coat of the new nude shade of nail polish that I just made.

Here is what it looks like on my nails after 1 coat:

Here is what it looks like after 2 coats of polish:

A few days later I did my nails again, and wanted to paint them using the same new nude nail polish color that I made, but wanted to make it more shimmery instead of such a matte nude. So it tried adding 1 coat of “show me the ring” by Essie Nail color over 2 coats of the BM nude nail color.

Here is how it came out, “show me the ring” is sort of a sheer white-gold shade, and so layering it over the nude made it look like a shimmery golden nude color.

So pretty, and really nice neutral shade for my photoshoots.

What a great new use for Bare Minerals and to revamp an old nail polish color! I’m also going to try and see what happens if I add it to a bright pink color or red….

Let me know if you try this, and what you think!

Thanks for reading!

Splurge on a Wedge

30 May

Jimmy Choo wedges

This is the perfect wedge for summer!

So I know these are a bit of a splurge for most of you lovely ladies, but I have to share my love for these Jimmy Choo wedges. I have the Black Snake print wedges from a few seasons ago, but they still make them in several different colors and materials. They even make styles with an ankle strap, a slingback, and with a few different heel heights, so there is something for everyone!

These are a great addition to your wardrobe if you want to purchase a classic wedge. A little pricey, but it’s nice to treat yourself to a sweet pair of heels once in a while?! I have gotten so much wear out of these wedges, and it has been worth every penny.

These are mine, a little broken in and loved! I love wearing them with a pair of jeans during the day,  with a summer dress, or with a bikini when I want an glammed up alternative to a flip flop. SO comfortable and easy to slip on.

Here are some other styles that they make, these ones are a little fancier with flowers, more straps, etc. I love the blush color and the nudes…

And these are for you ladies that don’t like a high heel…

I recommend going to the store and trying them on if they carry them in a store near you, so that you can find the perfect pair and perfect fit. The pair I tried on are true to size 7.5.

Copper Cat Eye How-To

28 May

New Sunset Blonde Beauty How-to:

Shimmery Copper CAT Eyes

I love wearing copper colors that make my blue eyes pop, but this color tends to look great with many skintones and eyecolors! If you liked my previous eyeshadow how-to you can use that technique, or you can try doing it this way. Again, I always like to make my eyes more catlike and almond shaped by bringing the eyeshadow up and out on the outter corners, as you will see below, but you can modify this depending on your eyeshape and preference.

Here is what you need to get this look:
Brown or Black liquid eyeliner
Black mascara
Copper eyeshadow: I used Gold Touch by Dior (avail at Sephora)
Sunset Blonde Beauty Blending Brush

image

Start by applying the copper eyeshadow with your index finger onto only your eyelid. I use my finger for applying it directly to the eyelid, because it allows more pigmentation to stick to my eyelid, and really makes the color pop.

image

As you can see when I open my eye, I only applied it to my eyelid:

image

image

Next, using the Sunset Blonde Blending brush, dip the brush gently into the eyeshadow:

image

image

Apply the eyeshadow using the Sunset Blonde Blending Brush into the crease concentrating on the outer corners of the eye and BLEND.

image

image

image

Apply liquid eyeliner: I use Prestige Liquid Eyeliner in Brown for a more natural look and start by lining my eyelid only half way, tapering it into my lashline in the middle of my eyelid so that it disappears, and stopping at the outter corner of my top eyelid. You can also use black liquid eyeliner for a more dramatic look.

image

image

image

I then want to make it more Cat like, so I add a wing on the outer corners:

image

image

image

Add mascara to top lashes concentrating more applications on the outer corners.

image

image

image

image

image

This is a super easy yet beautiful way to enhance your eyes. Since there is no eye makeup on the bottom of your eye, and the “half cat-eye” eyeliner, it can be worn as a daytime look or a night look.

Hair Extensions & BLONDE hair

22 May

Blonder is not always better

Would you rather have super short and damaged blonde hair,  or your natural hair color with that gorgeous length? I’ve decided to go with length.

As a model & Makeup Artist, I have seen it all when it comes to Blonde hair. Not very many girls’ hair can handle the long term damage and commitment that dying your hair blonde takes.

I know this because I have dyed my own hair a much blonder all over color than my natural shade for almost 5 years now. I started dying it really blonde after I did a magazine spread with Angus Mitchell for Modern Salon Magazine. I was on the cover and had a 7 page spread in the issue, which was my first magazine cover. I’m glad now that I did it, but I will never do it again!

Here is Angus, cutting my hair:

As honored as They cut my hair in this crazy uneven short style with bangs. Honestly, it was the worst haircut I’ve had in my whole life. I understand that it was for the “art” of the spread, but realistically, it was NOT a hair cut that I could work with on a normal day. I cried. I cried over my hair. I didn’t know what to do. Yes, it grows back, but man it takes way too long.

So back to talking about dying my hair blonde….

As part of the look for the shoot, they dyed my hair bleach blonde, added dark brown underneath, with subtle pink and yellow streaks. After the photoshoot, they allowed me to come into the salon, and dye my hair back a normal color, the bleach blonde. They removed the colored streaks and dyed the brown hair underneath uber blonde.

I started to like the really blonde look on myself. Naturally, I have dark Blonde hair with strawberry undertones. Even though the color grew on me, the length and lack of fullness that I was used to was gone.

This was my first look into hair extensions.

In the beginning, I had no idea that you could clip hair extensions in until I moved to Los Angeles. Originally being from Chicago, us midwest girls rarely wear hair extensions! Now, living in LA, and after all of the dying and damage from photo shoots that gets done to my hair, it has never been the same. It seems like it never grows, and just breaks before I need a haircut! Anyone else know what I’m talking about?

Since I didn’t want to fully commit to the semi-permanent extensions at first, I looked into getting ones that you could just clip in and out. I only wore them for photoshoots or special occasions. Thinking that once my hair grew out, I wouldn’t need them anymore, but I have been wearing them ever since. Like I mentioned before, having my hair that blonde, it would break off at about my shoulders, and never seemed to be any longer.

Here’s one of my SECRETS, SHHHHHHH! Don’t Tell!! ;)

I have 2 sets of extensions, ones I wear when my hair is straight, and ones that I wear when my hair is curly. This not only prolongs the life of your clip-ins, it also makes getting ready in the morning so much quicker! Since I don’t have to restyle (recurl or straighten) the extensions as often. They are also cut and layered differently so that they look more natural for the style.

Now, after realizing that my hair was never going to be strong enough to grow the length I wanted it to if i kept dying it, I’ve jumped on the “Ombre/ Baliage” trend, and taken full advantage of this look. If you don’t know what that is you can see examples of it here:

Ombre Trend:

I have been just highlighting every 4 months, and letting my natural hair color shine through as much as possible! My ends are much lighter, and my roots are darker, hence the “ombre” look. But the highlighting allows for a more blended look, it’s not so drastic, it fades nicely.

This is a current photo of me with my natural color growing in:

And Here is an old photo of me with really blonde hair to see before & after

But as soon as all of the overall dyed hair grows out, it will be back to auNatural! Girls, I have to tell you, my natural hair is softer, and fuller than it’s been in 5 years. It’s like I had forgotten what it was like to have normal hair. My hair was always so dry and fragile, feeling like straw, ugh, so bad. Now, my hair is healthier and I’ve been getting so many compliments on it. I am totally embracing this, and learning to love my real hair color again. I think you should too. You probably wont like it when I say this, but if your hair is super short, and doesn’t seem to grow because you dye it blonde, stop! Don’t keep frying your hair off. Long natural hair is sooooo much better than fried short blonde hair where we can all tell you have hair extensions in!

Ok, so for those of you that can’t do it, I get it. I get it! So, Here is what I’m going to do for you! I’m going to come out with my own line of Clip-In Hair extensions for you.
Why? Well, because I have become what you might call an EXPERT in the Clip-in hair extension department. ;) I’m great at not only placing them in such a way that they look completely natural, so no one Ever knows that I am wearing them, but I’m also great at blending them to look like your real hair.

Yes, I’m really going to do this. So Subscribe/follow my blog so you will be notified right away when they are available!

Thanks!

FAN-Tastic Brushes from SUNSET BLONDE BEAUTY!

21 May

The Fan Brush is Sunset Blonde’s MUST HAVE makeup tool.

And I bet, most of you have never even owned one, and if you do, you don’t know what it is for!?

If so, you are missing out on this amazing little beauty tool!

Luckily for you, I have really incredible high quality fan bushes for you to purchase for your collection from SUNSET BLONDE BEAUTY! I have 2 different size Fan Brushes available. The luxuriously soft FANCY FACE Brush, and delicately soft FANCY CHEEKY Brush.

I highly recommend at least 2 of the FANCY FACE Brush, and at least 2 of FANCY CHEEKY Brushes. Here’s why

A fan brush has a boatload of uses, and once you try it, you’ll never give it up.

Brush Off Eye Shadow Crumbs

It can be hard to apply eye shadow and mascara without having bits of powder shadow or bits of mascara drop to your cheeks. One solution is to do your eye make-up first, so that you can wash the stray make-up off. For those of us who prefer to do the eyes last, the fan brush, used with a light hand, can brush those flecks right off without smearing them. You gotta love that. You need to keep this brush super clean all the time, so it’s a good idea to own more than one of these FANCY CHEEKY Brushes.

Apply Powder Foundation

Whether you’re using a powdered mineral foundation, a foundation with bits of gold, or a baked foundation , apply it with Sunset Blonde’s FANCY FACE Brush. The fan brush gives you far more control over how much you use and where you use it than the large ROUND types. You can layer for more foundation, or apply one or two coats for an even and natural look.

Blush Application

The FANCY CHEEKY Brush is THE perfect tool for applying blush. The brush picks up less color than an angled or blush brush, and makes it easy to apply it where you want to. One or two sweeps give you a natural look for day, or layer on more for a glam evening look. It allows you to apply it gently and softly, without ever making a mistake or looking like a clown.

Bronzer Application

Like blush, bronzer can be applied easily with the FANCY CHEEKY Brush. The best use of bronzers is to sweep them lightly across those parts of the face that the sun would hit the most: the cheekbones; the nose; the chin; and above the brows and along the hairline. Again, the fan brush lets you pick up a smaller amount of product so that you can keep the application light. If you want it darker, layer on more color.

Highlighter Application
Use the FANCY CHEEKY Brush to sparsely dust a light, shimmery powder over the apple of your cheeks and the middle of your forehead to bring out these areas through highlighting.

Shading Application

With the FANCY CHEEKY Brush you can also use your bronzer/a darker shade of powder to shade under your cheekbones and under your jawline to define your face subtly enough for even daytime wear! How great is that?

Powder Application

Powder to set your make-up is the last step in make-up application for many women, and the FANCY FACE Brush is ideal for this. Brushing a fine layer of powder over your face with FANCY FACE Brush will set your make-up, and you won’t have that “powdered” overdone look,

So, put your fan brush to work! And if you don’t have one, what are you waiting for?

Purchase the best ones from SUNSET BLONDE BEAUTY

AVAILABLE FOR PURCHASE VERY SOON!

For special PRE-Order opportunities for the FANCY FACE Brush & FANCY CHEEKY Brush email me at Sunsetblnd@gmail.com

Thanks! And can’t wait to share these amazing brushes with you! They will change the way you do your makeup!

BLOG SALE- WHITE JOVANI DRESS

10 May

HI GIRLIES!!

I recently purchased this dress for a photoshoot for a jewelery company, and only wore it once for the shoot. I was walking down the street in it for 10 minutes during the shoot for a video segment, and the train in the back was dragging, so it picked up a little dirt, but it’s still in great condition. The fabric on all of these dresses is very fragile, and it has some tiny snags in the fabric in a few places, but it’s so subtle that it doesn’t impact the look of the dress.  It’s a gorgeous dress that can be worn for many special occasions. It is strapless and has a leg slit, and a hole in the waist on one side embroidered with silver rectangular sequins. It has very flattering rushing in the front, and a long train in the back. This dress’s original price is $496.00 + tax. I am selling it as is for  $300.00!

THE DRESS IS A SIZE O, BUT FITS MORE LIKE A 2.

Sunset Blonde’s Organized T-shirt Drawer

8 May

Organize your T-Shirts like Sunset Blonde!

It’s easy, you just need to know how!

Ok, so I’m sort of addicted to these v neck t-shirts, I love them in every color! They were taking up a lot of space in my closet so I decided to move them to a drawer in my dresser. But I didn’t want to put them in there the normal way that I usually do, by folding and stacking one on top of another. This usually ends up in a big mess in side the drawer after doing laundry and trying to find the color I’m looking for, so I searched for a solution.

I did so much internet research, to find a way of folding, and placing them in the drawer that was better than what I learned growing up. (This is a technique I will teach my kids too someday!) But for now, I’m teaching you! I really hope this helps you and inspires you like it has done for me!

This can be done with many different kinds of t-shirts, but I’m going to show you how to just do it with a basic v-neck t-shirt. Also, my dresser is from Z Gallerie and has very shallow drawers, which ends up working out great because I don’t feel like I’m wasting a bunch of space by not stacking shirts on top of shirts. It allows me to only have 1 row of t-shirts in 2 columns:

You could also place them in the drawer like this:

The BEST part of this technique, believe it or not, if you do it correctly, your t-shirts will stand upright without having to lean against anything. So as you take them out to wear them, and the drawer gets emptier, they don’t fall over and get all unfolded or messy!

Can you see how the pink t-shirt stands up all by itself? And between the yellow and orange t-shirts there is a space where I removed a shirt. No falling over, how cool is that?!? I was so impressed when I actually tried it myself! It is really simple to fold your t-shirts in this special way, and doesn’t take any longer than folding them your “old way.”

I organized mine by color and style, I put all the similar colors together. As you can see, it’s not SUPER perfect. I’m not a perfectionist, or crazy organized. I just find that  when I try to be organized, it is easier for me to put things away, and stay organized. If each thing has a place to go, then you are more likely to but it back there rather than leaving it laying around, right?

Now, my t-shirt drawer is super organized and pretty!

I love opening my drawers and feeling like I’m in a store! You know like when you go to Victoria’s Secret and all the Bra’s are in the drawers below, and you open it up to a colorful array of Bras in your size? Love that.

You can also easily see what you have in your drawer. All the t-shirts stacked side by side, visible all at one time. I find it so helpful in grabbing the exact one I want without having to dig through my drawer and mess up all the ones on top just to find the one on the bottom. I also tend to wear all of them more, since I can actually see what I own. This also enables me to know which ones to give away because I easily realize which ones I don’t wear.

Now, here is how to fold your t-shirts:

1. Lay shirt out on a flat surface front of shirt facing down and smooth out any wrinkles.

2. Fold shirt in half, aligning sleeves.

3. Fold sleeves in.

4. Start folding shirt into fourths, starting with the top of the shirt

5. Fold over again in the same direction. Continue to smooth out wrinkles as you go.

6. If it looks like there is going to be extra length sticking out, you can fold it up at the bottom. Otherwise continue folding over in the same direction.

7. This is what it looks like all folded up!

8. This is what it looks like if you stand it upright. It will stay up all by itself if you do it correctly.

View from above when standing upright, this is what it looks like when placed in a drawer:

Tell me how this works out for you? Are you able to fold them like I did? Any other ideas that you came up with?

Organize Your Jewelery Like Mine!

5 May

Hi girls!

There are so many storage solutions for your jewelery, and I have tried so many of them! But I always felt that even though they were organized, they were always spread out between small boxes, hanging on necklace racks, in drawers and it was hard to see what I really had. And when I can’t see it, I forget about it.  So I started looking for another solution, to put all my jewelery in one place, where it is easy to view all at one time, but is also sort of discrete. I came across the perfect solution!!

Although a little pricey for a storage solution, I’m so happy with the results. It makes it easy for me to see everything that I have all at once.

When I open the door it’s like I’m in a jewelry store! I can see everything easily so no more searching for what jewelry to wear. I have a lot of jewelry that I forgot I had since I couldn’t find it before.

It stores my jewelry safely and efficiently, and is in the perfect location for when I’m getting dressed. I have a walk in closet, and I installed mirrors in the hallway right outside of my closet door, so after I put an outfit on in the closet, I can come out, see how it looks in the mirrors. My new Jewelery organizer only adds to the convenience of this because on the outside of it is a long mirror, and it opens up like a cabinet to store all my Jewelery!!

Here is what it looks like closed (it’s the white one) I hung it higher than the 2 black mirrors so that the inside mirror is eye level:

This is how it looks hanging outside of my closet door. The one across the hall from it is the walk-in closet. The door straight-on is my bedroom door, I just closed it so it is easier to view this space.

This amazing invention is called “Framed Wall or Door Jewelry Armoire Mirror”  by Mirrotek. I bought the one that hangs over the door, which is where I thought I wanted to put it, but I ended up installing it all by myself using a drill on the wall. So the over the door one, comes with the option to hang over the door, or install on the wall, and installation was really easy. Now if I move, at least I have the attachments that hang over the door if I need them.

Here is what the inside looks like: There are different sections, one for earrings, rings, short necklaces, long necklaces, medium necklaces, and little bins for bangles, cuffs, studs, hoops, or whatever else you might want to fit in there. I got mine in white, because I wanted it to blend in with my white walls, but it comes in

It has a nice sized mirror inside, so that when you open it, pick something out, and put it on, you can see how it looks on you. So make sure that you hang that mirror at your eye level depending on your height.

Here are some close ups of different ways I placed different items:

The medium length necklaces:

The long length necklaces. I stacked more than one on some of the hooks.the hooks can hold quite a few, which gives more storage space:

The bins containing cuffs, hoops, large rings, and other bracelets:

The short necklace section. I also hung a key chain & some long feather earrings on one of the hooks:

The ring section, with also found useful to store some hoops in the larger (double) slots

The earring section which I tried to organize by style also:

There are a few places where you can order it from. I ordered mine off of Hautelook.com when they had a special for only $100. I think it is more expensive everywhere else, but isn’t available on Hautelook.com anymore.

It also arrived all put together in a huge box, so I didn’t have to build it, which is great!

I’ve found it for you on several different websites. I would recommend checking the price, return policy and shipping rates for each and compare. Also, it comes in like 5 different colors (white, black, light oak, cherry, zebra, leopard) so check around to find the color you want. Here are the links, you can also type “Framed Wall or Door Jewelry Armoire Mirror” and make sure it’s the Mirrotek Brand so you know you are getting the same one.

It is pretty well made, just BE GENTLE when putting the rings in, because I forced one and broke a little of the foam off. I thought it was more durable, but like everything, you just need to be gentle and take care of it. I was just really excited to put my sparkelies in it!!

I wish there was a lock on it for security but the door does close nicely. It arrived on time and in perfect condition.

This is MY FAVORITE ORGANIZING ITEM EVER!!

My Signature Eye Makeup Technique

4 May

HOW-TO

I have blonde hair, and therefore, blonde eyelashes, and eyebrows…this sometimes is not so pretty. So I have come up with a certain way that I like to do my eye makeup that really accentuates the shape and beauty of them.

Below is a photo of how my eye looks with no eye makeup on:

I love more of a cat-eye look and the almond shape, enhancing the outer corners of my eyes and keeping it natural and lighter on the inner corners. I place the eyeshadow in an UP & OUT technique.  I have come up with this special way to do my eye makeup that I have also tried on some of my makeup clients that seems to work well on a variety of eye shapes.

Here is the finished look:

Without eye makeup, my eyes look small and close-set. I try to make my eyes look larger and farther apart.

Dust a pale, light-reflective shadow across the inner three-quarters of each lid, then apply a dark shadow from lash line to crease at the outer corner using the small shader brush (see brush below). I use A bronze or brown color because it looks more natural than any other shade.

Next step is to add the same bronze color eyeshadow to the lower lashline starting at the outer corner and blending and tapering off half way only:

TIP: Please limit dark liner to the outer corner of your eye (top and bottom) if you are going to use it. But I recommend it at night, I think it tends to be too dark for the daytime. Here is how I apply the cream liner crayon, which I like in either brown or purple. In this photo I’m using the purple one, to give it a subtle pop so that you can see it. I apply it inside lower lashline and underlashes on outer corners only:

Next, BLEND!! Blend the shadow into the crease and outer corners with the larger blending brush.

Add mascara to top lashes, concentrating on outer corners and sweeping lashes out. It is also very important to get the mascara as close to the lash line as you can.

Add a light coat of mascara to the outer corner bottom lashes, and VERY lightly to inner bottom lashes:

Again, concentrate on putting the mascara thicker on the outer corner lashes:

Blending and placement of color are super important.

Sometimes I will add some liquid Eyeliner and False lashes for a more glamorous look for photo shoots or a night out. The photo pictured directly below has no liquid eyeliner and No false lashes. All mine baby!

Brush Up
Your fingers will NOT get the job done. You need good brushes which are dramatically better for blending and building color.
Here is what you need:
You can buy these brushes as a set or individually from www.sunsetblonde.com
From top to bottom:
1. BLENDER BRUSH
Long and fluffy, this tool is perfect for shading your creases, emphasizing the outer corners of your eyes, and blending shadows together. This is my favorite brush, and is essential to this soft shadow look.
2. DELUXE CREASE BRUSH
It’s ideal for applying your base color. Choose one made with super-soft natural hairs, like sable or goat, if you’re working with powdered shadow. I don’t like cream shadows, unless they come in the form of a thick eye pencil.
3. BABY BULLET BRUSH
I love this brush for shading dark underneath the bottom lashes, outer corners and in the crease. Followed by the Blender Brush to really blend the shadow above the crease.

Some makeup products I recommend to get this look:

Available only for a limited time: Extra Dimension Eyeshadows from MAC in Rich Core (which is a shimmery wine color) and Havana (a pretty bronze), These shadows have high pigmentation and are easily blended.
Also, pictured above are my new favorite Jumbo Crayons from Sephora called Sephora 12H (12 Hour) Waterproof Jumbo Crayons. I have them in almost all the colors, but pictured above is my favorite bronze color in #07 Brown, and #01 White. And below is the Purple color that I used in the photos above.

These are the new shadows and jumbo Cream liner sticks that I’m using right now. I use the shadows on outer corners of upper eyelid and blend into the crease with the small shader brush, then blend with the Blender Brush. Followed by a swipe of the bronze Jumbo Liner pencil under bottom lashes on the outer corners only. Sometimes I will use a highlighter  or light shadow color on the inner corners.

I used this Bronze Essential Eye Shadow Single from Kevyn Aucoin Beauty in the photos above. This is a smooth Bronze color that blends well and comes in a nice compact with a tiny mirror.

The great thing about this look is that once you master it, you can play with different eyeshadow colors. It is really quick and easy to do, and has amazing results.

Let me know if you have any questions and how this look worked for you if you try it!

Also, stay tuned for the Darker & more glamorous night-time version of my Signature Sunset Eye look! With darker eyeshadow, Liquid Eyeliner and False Lashes!
